JENKINSON, Francis John Henry, 1892-1911
Scope and Contents
Seventeen letters sent from Francis Jenkinson to Ida Darwin between January 1892 and January 1911. All but three of the letters were written in the 1890s with eight letters alone written between October and November 1899 in which Jenkinson discusses his proposal to marry Daisy Stewart, an idea which apparently met with some initial disapproval from Ida Darwin. The letters contain news of family and social engagements, and sharing observations and items of interest on matters including books and gardening.
