Letter to 'Mr Eppstein', 28 Apr. 1936

 Item
Reference Code: GBR/0012/MS Add.7653/1/A/18a

Scope and Contents

Copy of a letter from [Rutherford] to ‘Mr Eppstein’ acknowledging receipt of his letter about the National Conference on Refugees to be held from May 20-22. Rutherford recognises the importance of these meetings but is in some difficulty in answering Eppstein [see Ms Add.7653/1/A/18] as he is President of the Academic Assistance Council, which is entirely non-political, and were he to preside over a meeting of a political character there would be repercussions for the AAC. He asks Eppstein for information about the speeches to be made that day. The difficulties would be removed if the meeting dealt mainly with the refugee problem.
