Letter to Adams, Walter, 8 May, 1936

 Item
Reference Code: GBR/0012/MS Add.7653/1/A/19

Scope and Contents

Thanks Adams for sending the paper in the ‘Universities Review’, which Rutherford does not believe is liable to cause them trouble. He cannot be at the meeting on Tuesday [May 12] to discuss the future organisation of ‘the new body’ [the Society for the Protection of Science and Learning]. Agrees that there should be a good Executive Committee of twelve to deal regularly with business and has no objection to Sub-Committees formed as the occasion arose with one or two in being for rapid consultation. Is very interested to hear of the meeting’s results and the plans proposed if Adams might possibly come to see him. Notes that there must be a final meeting of the AAC and the first of ‘the new Council’ at a date to be fixed before long. Has received the letter about Schnurmann and informed Lowry of its contents. Adams’s proposal is the best and help if required can be considered later.
