Basil Blackwell Limited, 1965-1991
Scope and Contents
ROUGH NOTES:
In 1965 discussions began amongst Roger Fiske, Charles Cudworth and Sadie on a proposal to collaborate in writing a book on English eighteenth century music for publication by Country Life. The proposal did not come to fruition but was picked up again in in the late 1970s when Sadie agreed to contribute a chapter titled 'Music in the Home, 1760-1800' for publication in a volume on the eighteenth century as part of a series on 'The Athlone HIstory of Music in Britain' to be published by The Athlone Press. The volume was eventually published in 1990 by Basil Blackwell Limited as 'Blackwell History of Music in Britain: the Eighteenth Century' and edited by Harry Johnstone and Roger Fiske.
Contains correspondence with Cudworth, Fiske and Johnstone, and remittance advice slips from Basil Blackwell Limited.
Also includes a letter from Basil Blackwell Limited (March 1988) concerning an idea for a 'Encyclopedic Dictionary of Cricket'.
