Scope and Contents

Letters from and to Charles Hamson found in a file marked ‘Old Correspondence’. The correspondents are numerous and the subject of the correspondence is largely of an ephemeral nature, topics include arrangements for a Law Faculty Lunch Club, Hamson’s contribution to a BBC Committee on the Future of Broadcasting, Hamson’s contribution to an article on Harry Holland, an invitation to become a member of the ‘Tehran University Law Review’, invitations to conferences and social gatherings, requests for advice, Hamson’s opinion on various matters concerning Trinity College and the Faculty Board of Law, a tribute from John Peyton on his recollections of Hamson when they were held captive in a German Prisoner of War camp, requests for references, Eranus Society circulars, an obituary for Professor Basil Willey by Heinrich Straumann. All of the letters date from the 1970s and have been sub-divided into year of correspondence.
