Scope and Contents
Correspondence between Lord Patrick Devlin and Hamson on various subjects including commentary on legal matters, an invitation from Hamson for Devlin to participate in the BBC ‘Law in Action’ series (1955), Hamson’s reflections on his visiting professorship at the University of Michigan during the 1957 Spring Semester and the trial of John Bodkin Adams over which Devlin presided (1957), Devlin’s description and appreciation of social arrangements facilitated by Hamson during Devlin’s visit to a meeting of the International Press Institute in Istanbul (1964). The correspondence also includes two letters from Madeleine Hilda Devlin, wife of Patrick Devlin, and a letter from Hamson to David E. C. Yale, fellow of Christ’s College, Cambridge commending Devlin as a suitable candidate for an honorary fellowship.
