Comparative Study of Law broadcasts, Feb. 1951-Jan. 1952
Scope and Contents
Correspondence between Hamson, T. S. Gregory, BBC Talks producer, and Theodore Frank Thomas Plucknett, professor of legal history in the University of London, concerning preparation for a series of broadcasts on comparative law which Hamson recorded with Plucknett. The seven talks were first transmitted by the BBC on the Third Programme during February and March 1952. Five of the talks were reproduced in ‘The English Trial and Comparative Law’ and feature three talks by Hamson: ‘The Comparative Study of Law’, ‘The Characteristics of an English Trial’, and ‘The Day in Court’. The correspondence also makes reference to Hamson preparing a broadcast on his prisoner of war experience. See MS Add. 9957/11/16 for a copy of ‘The English Trial and Comparative Law’.
