Scope and Contents

A document printed for the use of the Foreign Office containing copies of items concerning a dispute over the right of the foreign community in Yokohama to land or embark from the sea front of their residences. The document includes a letter from Parkes, Yedo, to Edward Stanley, Earl of Derby, 12 May 1874; a letter from Parkes, Yedo, to Terashima Munenori, 9 May 1874; a letter from Russell Brooke Robertson, Kanagawa, to Parkes, 6 May 1874; a notice issued by Alexander E. Olarovsky (Russian diplomat), Yokohama, 8 May 1874; and a notification issued by a Kanagawa government officer, Kanagawa, 25 April 1870.
