Scope and Contents
'Treaty of Peace, Commerce, and Navigation, between the Empires of China and Japan': an English translation from the Chinese of a treaty signed in Tientsin, 13 September 1871, including manuscript annotations. The translation is by Frederick Eastlake, and revises a translation made by William S. Frederick Mayers. It is undated, but originates from 1878 or later.
