Scope and Contents
A letter from Inoue Kaoru, Foreign Office [Tokyo], to Parkes, 25 October 1882, 1 bifolio, including the envelope, enclosing a set of copies of ten memorials and memoranda (in Chinese) exchanged between the Chinese Government and the French Minister [Henri de Bellonet], relating to the Tongking affair, 1866 and undated, 14 bifolios (sewn together), and copies of three letters (in Chinese), 6 folios: one from 'Yi', on behalf of the Korean Government, to Inoue, August 1882, one from the Japanese Government to the Chinese Government, 19 August 1882, and one from the Chinese Government to the Japanese Government, 1 October 1882.
