Scope and Contents
Twenty-one press cuttings (in English and French), mostly concerning affairs in Egypt, and including several concerning Charles George Gordon, [22 February-] 24 March 1881 and undated. The publications include 'The Times' and the 'Manchester Examiner and Times'. The titles of the articles include 'Egypt'; 'England, France, and Egypt'; 'France and Egypt'; 'The French Colony in Egypt'; 'The French Controller in Egypt'; 'The Ex-Khedive of Egypt'; 'The Egyptian Army'; 'The Military Revolt in Egypt'; 'Forced Labour in Egypt'; 'The Egyptian Slave Trade'; 'How to Deal with the Slave Scandal in Egypt'; and 'Slavery in the Soudan'. The cuttings includes letter to editors from Gordon and Charles Harris Allen. The envelope is labelled 'Gordon's clippings'.
