Scope and Contents
'The Chinese Embassy to All the Treaty Powers': a printed account of the journey of Anson Burlinghame and his suite from Peking to Taku, beginning on 25 November 1867, by 'Jasper', Shanghai, 14 December 1867. The account is followed by 'The Mule Litter Song' by Oliver Bloomfield Bradford (United States diplomat). There is also a pencil note reading 'A pedler's [sic.] pony ate a potato with unparrallelled [sic.] ecstasies', and arithmetical calculations in pen.
