Scope and Contents
Originals and copies of correspondence between William Keswick, London, and James Steuart and J.C. & A. Steuart, Edinburgh, February-December 1905, regarding the late Sir Robert Jardine and related matters. The subjects includes Sir Robert's will; the deeds of partnership of Jardine, Matheson & Co., China, and Jardine, Matheson & Co., London; J.J.J. Keswick's Trust; and the possibility of Sir R.W.B. Jardine joining Matheson & Co. There is a copy of the last will and testament of Sir Robert Jardine, 5 December 1901, with codicils of 1902, which was enclosed with James Steuart's letter to William Keswick of 23 February 1905. There are also related notes, schedules and other documents, 1897-1905. The envelope is labelled 'Re Will of Sir Robert Jardine and correspondence re partnership) (Copy of will enclosed) 1905 & prior thereto'.
