The ring-binder is labelled '1956/57 Private & Confidential Indo-China S.N. Co., Ltd.' and is numbered 49. It is divided into six sections:
1. General: a memorandum from H.H. Tod, Hong Kong, to H.D.M. Barton detailing capital, directors, shareholdings and fleet size of Williamson & Co. Ltd, Douglas Steamship Co., John Manners & Co. Ltd, Cambay Prince Steamship Co. Ltd, China Shipping Co. Ltd, San Jeronimo Steamship Co. (S.A.) and Isabel Navigation Co. (South Africa), 2 March 1957.
2. West Indies Navigation Co.: correspondence and telegrams exchanged by Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, with Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, and G.J.P. Carey, Port of Spain, Trinidad, with related letters and papers, including notes of meetings at the Colonial Office and of other meetings regarding the West Indies Navigation Co., 2 January 1956-11 November 1957.
3. Shipping General: correspondence and telegrams exchanged between Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, and Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, with related letters and papers, 10 July 1956-21 November 1957.
4. Indo-China Steam Navigation Co. Merchant Navy Honours: three pieces of correspondence between Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, and Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, 4 January-19 February 1957, with a letter from P. Faulkner, London, to Alan Reid, Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, 27 December 1956, and notes on Captain Brian Edwin Bidwell and Captain Sydney Schofield.
5. Indo-China Steam Navigation Co. Ltd Future Policy and New Tonnage: a small set of correspondence between Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, and Matheson & Co. Ltd, London, 27 November 1956-11 October 1957.
