A copy of the letter of appointment of John Johnstone of Hong Kong by Sir Robert William Buchanan Jardine, Baronet, of Castlemilk, N.B., Governing Director of Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd, and Henry Keswick of London, Senior Managing Director, as the company's Managing Director in the East from 1 May 1919 in succession to David Landale, 12 May 1919. There is a covering letter from Freshfields & Leese to C.H. Ross, Matheson & Co., 19 May 1919, enclosing the letter of appointment, as well as a power of attorney (not included).
