Employment contracts, 1834-1940
Scope and Contents
Agreements and contracts hiring employees for a wide range of different positions, made principally by Jardine, Matheson & Co. and other companies for the staff of their offices, factories and ships in the Far East. The contracts usually specify an initial term of service, after which the contract can be broken by either party following a period of notice. Some contracts include later additions extending the length of service. There are also some related papers.
