Scope and Contents

Copies (including some press copies) of letters from correspondents in Hong Kong to William Keswick, London, mostly from John Bell-Irving. There are also many letters, and some extracts of letters, from other places, including Peking, Shanghai, Tientsin and Yokohama, exchanged between partners and between partners and other correspondents. The two principal correspondents are John Macgregor and Alexander Michie. Other correspondents include E.R. Belilios; Fred D. Bush; Edward Cousins; Henry Rogers, Sons & Co.; Jardine, Matheson & Co.; J.J. Keswick; G. James Morrison; Morrison & Gratton; Donald Spence; W.B. Walter; and James Whittall. The envelope also contains some related documents, including accounts, memoranda and company reports. The items originate from a box-file labelled 'Hong Kong to London 1888 Loose'.
