Scope and Contents

Press copies of letters from Joseph Jardine, William Keswick, James Macandrew, Herbert Magniac, Alexander Perceval and James Whittall, Hong Kong, to correspondents in Foochow, with odd letters to other parts of China. Most of the letters are addressed to partners or employees of Jardine, Matheson & Co. Many were sent to Richard Farr Hamilton, who was employed as a clerk by Jardine, Matheson & Co. at Foochow.
