Heraldic visitation of Shropshire, 1663-1664
Scope and Contents
Volume, The armes of the Gentry of Shropshire, as they stand entred in the Visitation of that County made in Ao 1663 and 1664 by Will[ia]m Dugdale Esqr Norroy King of Armes deputy and Marshall, for the visiting of the said County unto Sr Edward Bishe Kt Clarenceux King of Armes at that time. Sir William Dugdale (1605-86), herald, antiquary, his notebook, with arms of many gentry families drawn with a fine pen, uncoloured; index somewhat mutilated; with (at the end) unillustrated description of seals of Bridgenorth, and illustrated description of seal of Bishop's Castle. John Gage's bookplate, and inscription by him: 'This MS was given to me by Mary Countess de Front widow of Sir Thomas Fleetwood Bart to whom it had belonged'.
