Scope and Contents
Short notes taken in a journey to Italy in 1816 with some subsequent remarks and observations. Daily entries, 12 MAY Â 2 JUL 1816. With watercolour paintings of landscape, architecture and antiquities. In a subsequent pencil annotation Gage observed 'It is my intention to shorten and change all the first part of this journal it being at present too long and too dull even for myself to read'.
