Scope and Contents

From the Fonds:

This collection comprises Rolf Gardiners (RG) work on the youth movements of Britain and Europe, His travels with dance and folk groups, his furtherance of the restoration and conservation of his estate and his writings on conservation, agriculture and landscape husbandry. There is also a fair amount of personal material ranging from his birth, schooling, later life and death, correspondence with friends and visits to other countries. Some material pertains to his friendships in Germany, and there a few indications of the problems he had with his association with the National Socialist movement in Germany, this collection containing a letter to Dr Goebbels, praising the 'national renewal' that the party had begun.
