Reference Code: GBR/0012/MS Gardiner/ A/2

Scope and Contents

From 1924 onwards RG made attempts to write books about his youth and activities in Northern Europe. These took various forms: a novel, collections of essays, and straightforward autobiography. He also produced several German versions. None were published as a whole, but chapter's appeared in RG's own periodicals. He was more successful in writing about rural reconstruction: England Herself was published in 1943, and he was commissioned to write on Europe and ecology in1971, but he did not live to complete the work.
