Sweet pea notebook titled 'Lathyrus ledger' [summaries of 1903-1931 & 1936-1939 crosses], 1903-1931 & 1936-1939
Scope and Contents
Notebook containing summary records of 1903-1931 crosses from Bateson and Punnett's sweet pea experiments (mainly 1908-1931).
Entries begin [page 1:1v] with a list of letter codes, A1-H, referring to phenotypic characters, where A1 represents ‘purple-red’ (flowers), A2 - long/round (pollen), A3 - erect/hooded (flower shape), etc. The records then summarise the crosses for A1 plants for each year [pp 1:2-1:21r], followed by those for A2 [pp 1:22-1:35] etc. all the way to H.
Further notes on subsequent crosses conducted from 1936-1939 are provided on [page 133v] and on five pages of notes loosely inserted into the back of the book [pp 2:1-2:4].
