Scope and Contents

Eighteen letters to Siegfried Sassoon concerning 'The Heart's Journey', which was published in 1927. The letters are largely congratulatory in nature but also include some personal or professional news. Correspondents include writers and publishers (J.C. Squire, Ben Huebsch and C.S. Evans), family members (Francis and Mary Donaldson and 'auntie'), friends and acquaintances (Adela Schuster, Max Mayerfeld, Violet Woodhouse, Dorothy Hawkins, Virginia Moore, Ivor Daniel and Elsie Fogerty), and fans of his work. Originally housed in an envelope marked 'The Heart's Journey' (MS Add.9852/9/3/1).
