The volume comprises heavily revised drafts of several chapters of 'The Weald of Youth' and preliminary notes for 'Siegfried's Journey' (here with the provisional title 'Some Experiences of a Soldier Poet'). It also contains (written from reverse) character sketches of Anzie Wylde and Thomas Hardy, and further miscellaneous notes under headings including 'Thoughts on Writing (Aliveness in Literature)'. NB. The final chapter numbers to which the drafts relate are provided in brackets.
