Scope and Contents

Contains 13 letters addressed to Nora Barlow née Darwin beginning with letters from Ruth reflecting on Nora's wedding to Alan Barlow on 6 April 1911 and Gwen Darwin's plans for her marriage to Jacques Raverat. The letters also refer to an Italian walking holiday undertaken by Ruth in September 1912, the preparation of Erasmus's house in Saltburn, North Yorkshire to receive wounded soldiers in September 1914 and descriptions of how Ida Darwin was dealing with the death of Erasmus in April 1915.
Also includes a letter from Ida Darwin to Nora dated 29 April 1915 describing how she has spent the time since receiving news of Erasmus's death. Enclosed in the same envelope is a letter from A.R.W. 'Tony' of the 4th Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment to Ida Darwin, dated 25 April in which he gives an account of the death of Erasmus.
