J.R. Monsell's correspondence, 1879-1962 (Circa)
Scope and Contents
The initials used by Monsell in correspondence with his mother refer to family members. C. is his brother Charles, who later became a colonial official in Sierra Leone; E. his sister Eily, a sculptress who later married Bernard Darwin; A. his sister Anne (known as Nan) who married first William Bennett Pike and later colonial administrator Sir William Clark; WAMP is Nan's son Rev. William Aubrey Monsell Pike; F. Darwin is Sir Francis Darwin, Eily's father in law. After the death of Sir Aubrey De Vere in 1903, the family moved to Foulis Terrace, Onslow Gardens, Chelsea.
