Unless otherwise stated, the item is a letter to Lenox-Conyngham. The letters commonly refer to current Survey of India projects, news of former members of the Survey, geodesy projects in England, and to the preparation of Colonel R. H. Phillimore's massive Historical Record of the Survey of India. II/4a-e provide details of the Government of India's decision not to appoint Lenox-Conyngham Surveyor-General in 1919.
