Letter from Fay Compton, 17 Oct. 1923
Scope and Contents
Question whether cinema threatens plays, especially in such cases as 'The prisoner of Zenda' 'where a play and a film are brought into direct competitive rivalry': she thinks 'as far as conveying the actual drama is concerned the stage will always hold its own; it has finer perspective, whereas the strong suit of the cinema is panorama'
