Files for individual articles, containing letters from authors offering articles and letters of the Editor rejecting them (and often nothing else). There may also be correspondence with a specialist reader and reports giving reasons for rejection. Very occasionally the actual article is included. Arranged alphabetically by name of author. There is a small section of files with the description "Articles pre 1984 that were pending and never came back to us to read", i.e. the editors suggested revision, or asked whether the article had been offered to another journal and received no reply.
