Offprints, c 1930s- c 1980s
Scope and Contents
A set of offprints of Thorpe's periodical publications, some annotated, including a small quantity of interfiled offprints of publications by other authors, and a series of the newsletter "Biophone" delivered to WH Thorpe then Robert Hinde at the Sub-Department of Animal Behaviour, University of Cambridge. The set was compiled by Thorpe for loaning to other members of the department.
Box 1: approx. 65 items, 1925-59 [bulk 1930s].
Box 2: approx. 40 items, including WH Thorpe, ‘The sub-department of Animal Behaviour, University of Cambridge’ (1962) and WH Thorpe, ‘William Robson Thompson 1887-1972' for Biographical Memoirs of Fellows of The Royal Society, 1973, plus folder of notes relating to this article and offprints of other obituaries for FRS. 1936-79 [bulk 1950s and 1960s].
Box 3: approx. 30 items, 1932-66. With occasional newspaper cuttings and some duplicates, and Biophon newsletters [copies belonging to R.A. Hinde and W.H. Thorpe], 1971-82.
Box 4: approx. 40 items. Also includes: British Trust for Ornithology News, 1983, 2 issues; Biologist, journal of the Institute of Biology 1978 and 1984, 4 issues; Atoll Research Bulletin, 1967.
