the proposed Suakin expedition to relieve Khartoum; composition of the force; [Lord] Wolseley's attitude: '[Sir Evelyn] Baring has also telegraphed privately that he thinks that Wolseley is somewhat reinforced by previous expressions of opinion as to the Suakin route, and would be more glad to see the expedition sent than he admits.' A postscript seeks Cambridge's support in obtaining a commission for his nephew William Francis Egerton in either the Grenadier Guards or the 60th King's Royal Rifle Corps.
