Interfiled are clippings; correspondence related to the article (published in the Bookseller 27 Aug. 1942); and correspondence relating to a later article by Carter 'Lord Rothschild's Tom Jones: a moral tale' (1945; not published?). The correspondents include Bennett Cerf, R. & R. Bowker; Percy H. Muir, David A. Randall, Victor Rothschild, Saturday Review of Literature (Norman Cousins, Harrison Smith), Ralph Straus, Otto Wierum, Carroll A. Wilson Folder 2 = typescript of 9 pages of the 1942 article, with ms. alterations; printed number and tear-sheet from The Bookseller containing the article Folder 3 = typescript (original and 2 carbon copies) of the 1945 article with a covering typescript of 2 pages dated Apr. 1945.
