This collection of correspondance relates to the Spinning House controversy of the early 1890s, virtually the last round in the long dispute between the University authorities and the Town over the former's rights of arrest, trial and imprisonment of persons who were not members of the University, and the related right to veto public entertainments in Cambridge and its environs.
