Scope and Contents
{Not the official India Office despatches} Like Mayo's outgoing letters, these letters received from the Duke of Argyll are bound chronologically in indexed volumes, and listed here by folio number. The letters are the originals of private correspondence with Mayo on many aspects of government business, not official India Office despatches to the Government of India. They are written from the India Office, London, unless otherwise stated.
