First published London 1687 and reprinted 'by demand' in Philosophical Transactions (1683-1775), Vol. 19. (1695 - 1697), pp. 445-457 as 'The true theory of the tides, as extracted from the admirable treatise of Mr Isaac Newton, intituled Philosopiae naturalis principia mathematica, being a discourse presented with that book to the late King James, by Mr Edmund Halley.'
