Scope and Contents

Lists of London and provincial ballad printers, ballads and slip songs published by Collard, and in the Pepys and Roxburghe collections, in the hands of Madden and Henry Bradshaw. Also including letters, bills, and memoranda re Madden's collection: receipt for rent signed by R. Henderson, 25 June 1783; receipted bill signed by William Collard, 18 Oct. 1837; letter from W. Clift of Cirencester, printer, 26 Sep. 1837; receipted bill signed by John Swindells, Manchester, 30 May 1839; four letters from J. Very of Cheltenham, Jan. 1837; note from Sir Henry Ellis, 20 Feb. 1840; two letters from B. Stewart, Dec. 1853; letter from J. Harkness, 14 Apr. 1854 (with draft of letter from Madden to Harkness, ?Mar. 1854); letter from W. Hill, 22 Dec. 1854. All letters to Madden.
