Membrane 1r. Preamble: letters patent, writs of assize and gaol delivery commission.

1. Richard Rynger of Wisbech, labourer, is indicted that on 22 Apr. 1572 he broke and entered the close of Robert Palmer at Wisbech and feloniously took and drove a ewe worth three shillings belonging to John Parker. Not guilty.

2. Henry Cooke of Witchford, husbandman, is indicted that on 23 Nov. 1571 he feloniously took and carried away a fore-horse halter to the value of six pence and a thill-horse harness to the value of four pence from Thomas Wyllyat at Witchford. Not guilty.

3. Thomas Mycholson of Wisbech, blacksmith, is indicted that on 29 July 1572 he feloniously took and carried away 25 pounds in numbered money from Roger Allan at Wisbech. Guilty; allowed benefit of clergy.

8. Geoffrey Slatyer of Haddenham, gentleman, is bound to answer Abraham [Parnister] of King’s Lynne, Norfolk, merchant, in an action of debt. Matthew Robynson of Haddenham, yeoman, and Richard Pycarde of Ely, husbandman, act as surety.

9. Oswald Specheley of Whittlesey, husbandman, and William Specheley of Whittlesey, husbandman, are bound to answer Thomas Grey. John Glapthorn of Whittlesey, husbandman, and Robert Parkyn of Whittlesey, husbandman, act as surety.

10. Robert Ladde of Peterborough, Northamptonshire, yeoman, is bound to answer Richard Sedgewyke. Edward Story of Wisbech, draper, and John Glapthorne of Whittlesey, husbandman, act as surety.

25. John Whytmore of Whittlesey, yeoman, answered Richard Arkynstall, gentleman, in an action of trespass on the case and breach of promise relating to the payment of 40 shillings involving a certain William Stackus, 10 Mar. 1572 at Ely. Requests leave to imparl to the next session.

26. Geoffrey Slater of Ely, currier, is summoned to answer Abraham Pinester of King’s Lynne, Norfolk, merchant, in an action of debt of 20 marks, 12 Apr. 1571 at Ely. The entry is incomplete.

Richard Cobbe complains against Edward Browne of Haddenham, husbandman, in an action of trespass and ejection that on 5 Feb. 1572 Browne ejected Cobbe from six measures or strips of land in a field called Grunty Fenfold in Haddenham which Andrew Perne, Master of Peterhouse, had leased to George Redman, who in turn had leased it to Richard Cobbe for a period of 40 years. Browne requests leave to imparl to the next session.

32. Richard Cobbe, administrator of the goods and chattles of Robert Goodman, alias Skynner, deceased, complains against Thomas Smyth, alias Harydance, of Ely, butcher, in an action of debt of 40 shillings, 26 Dec. 1570 at Haddenham. Smyth requests leave to imparl to the next session. Membrane 7r.

William Robson of Walsoken, Norfolk, tailor, is summoned to answer John Alday in an action of debt of 40 shillings relating to the sale and supply of two and a quarter yards of medley colour cloth and one and a quarter yards of baize, 6 Dec. 1571 at Wisbech. Stephen Catell, alias Wright, of Somersham, Huntingdonshire, husbandman, answered William Mallerye esquire in an action of trespass and ejection that on 18 Apr. 1570 he ejected Mallerye from a marsh comprising 14 acres lying in [Cokesues] in Sutton which John Burges of Somersham, gentleman, had leased to Mallerye for a term which had not yet expired.
