Scope and Contents

"The Mission has meant much for India and though it has done more in some parts than others there is no where where it has not been a real inspiration." Miss Higson's splendid work on social purity. Attitude of Hindus and Muhammedans, frightened of Christian influence but willing to do such work themselves. Shastri would rather have a pure Christian than an impure Hindu and does not mind if some Hindus become Christian. Westcott wishes for more united effort. "Things are appallingly bad in the city of Calcutta and it is the very magnitude of the evil that makes the tackling of it so difficult."
