Peter Clark's many cartographic interests include the Old Series and military mapping of Great Britain, both of which are represented by items in this archive. Peter has also donated several rare maps to the Map Department of Cambridge University Library.

The Charles Close Society Archives is available for consultation by researchers in the Map Room at Cambridge University Library. Biographical / Historical
Peter Clark began his career as a Map Research Officer for the War Office in 1950, rising through the senior and principal ranks to become Chief Map Research Officer, Mapping and Charting Establishment, Royal Engineers, in 1962. He was also head of Map Research and Library Group from 1967, finally retiring from the Civil Service in 1983 to take up the role as Keeper in the Royal Geographical Society, responsible for Library, Map Library and all other archives in the Society. He retired in 1992.
Peter is a founder member and the first chairman of the Charles Close Society, and is now an Honorary Member. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and member of the British Cartographic Society.
