Biographical / Historical
John Dennett joined the Ordnance Survey in 1928. He enlisted in the Corps of Royal Engineers in 1930, serving as a topographical draughtsman in Egypt, then returning to work on 25-inch County Series revision and later as a field reviser. After war service, which included a spell at Survey Training Centre R.E. on trig. instruction, he rejoined the Ordnance Survey as a large scales draughtsman, then from 1959 was Superintendent Large Scales Control, and from 1969 Superintendent Planning and Control until his retirement in 1972. He was awarded an M.B.E. in 1970.
