Biographical / Historical

Lecturer and Associate Professor in the Department of Geography in Trinity College Dublin from 1954 until his retirement in 1990, John Andrews was the author of A paper landscape: the Ordnance Survey in nineteenth-century Ireland, Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1975. His research for this had its origins in a collaborative history of the Ordnance Survey which John was invited to join in 1963 as the Irish specialist: this would ultimately be published by Dawson in Folkestone five years after A paper landscape as A history of the Ordnance Survey, edited by W A Seymour.
