The Charles Close Society Archives is available for consultation by researchers in the Map Room at Cambridge University Library. Appointments for access should be made in advance by contacting the Head of the Map Department, Anne Taylor (maps@lib.cam.ac.uk). Biographical / Historical

Mapsellers, based in Kerry, Newtown, Wales. Established in 1985 by David Archer and Alison Brown, specialising in second-hand Ordnance Survey material. As a publisher David Archer has issued reprints of several important Ordnance Survey source books, including the County Series large-scale (six-inch and 1:2500) index volumes for England and Wales, and Scotland. In 1999 they published what is now viewed by many as the standard reference work for small-scale maps: Ordnance Survey small-scale maps : indexes 1801-1998, by Roger Hellyer (ISBN-10 0951757954, ISBN-13 9780951757956).
