Deuteronomy, 1904
Scope and Contents
ff.34; 174 x 124mm; text size 120 x 80mm; 24 lines written in a fine calligraphy, bound in red cloth.
The first and last words of each line are written so as to form a sort of frame. Diacritical points are much more profusely used in this MS than in others.
According to the colophon, as translated by Moses Gaster, this section was completed: "...on the evening of the third day, the thirteenth of the tenth month which is...of the year 1322 of the rule of the sons of Haga...'. The scribe was Abisha, son of Pinehas the priest, the overseer of the Synagogue in Sichem. The MS was presented to the BFBS by Moses Gaster to commemorate the reception offered to the members of the Royal Asiatic Society on the occasion of its centenary celebrations, 19th July 1923. See correspondence from Dr. Gaster to C. H. K. Broughton, BFBS General Secretary.
