Three very small hands, changing at ff.181, 279: the writing by the first two scribes has tended to fade on flesh sides a reduced facsimile of ff.123 verso-124 in "The Library", 5th Series, xvi (1961), opp. p.16. Initial: (i) in colour on coloured grounds decorated in colours, sometimes elaborately, e.g. ff.87, 295; (ii) to prologues, either as (i), but smaller, or 4-line in blue and red with ornament of both colours; (iii) to chapters, (but cf. Secundo folio ‘res mea’.
1. ff.1-356. The books of the Bible as usual and in the usual order (cf. Lambeth Palace MS 1364), except that 3 Ezra follows Psalms and Colossians follows Thessalonians. The Prayer of Manasses is not written continuously with 2 Chronicles. Proverbs and Matthew begin on new quires (ff.181, 279): the preceding quires have not been completely filled. On ff.181-278 a new chapter does not begin on a new line. f.356 verso is blank.
The prologues are 60 of the common set of 64 and 13 others, shown here by *: Stegmüller, nos. 284, 285, 311, 323, 328, 332, 335, 341 + 343, 344, 357 (added), 457, 482, 487, 491, 492, 494, 500, 501*, 506*, 507, 511, 510, 515, 512, 513, 519 + 517, 516*, 524, 521, 522*, 526, 525*, 528 (...monstratur), 531, 530*, 529*, 524, 532*, 538, 535*, 539, 540*, 543, 544*, 547, 553, 551, 589, 590, 620, 624, 670*, 674*, 677 (added in the margin), and 13 more as usual to 793 (765...ab urbe roma), 640, 809, 839, 607. The prologues to Matthew and Mark, 589 and 607, appear to be afterthoughts in a main hand in the blank spaces on ff.278 verso and 356, respectively.
