Translated by Charles H. Robinson, W. H. Brooks, a student of the Hausa Association and L. H. W. Nott, assisted by H. G. Harris. According to Harris, the translation was originally made by Nott, assisted by an Arabic scholar and two Hausas, but C. H. Robinson states that the Committee had before them two or three translations and actually produced quite a new version. It was partly based on notes prepared by John Alfred Robinson.
