Scope and Contents
Total ff.2178 in 25 volumes; vols. 1, 3-4, 6-12, 14-18, 21-22; 228 x 178mm; vols. 19, 20; 312 x 203mm; vols. 5, 13; 318 x 202mm; vols. 2, 23-25; 371 x 225mm; written in syllabic character on one side only of each leaf, with parts of the printed editions pasted in at the appropriate positions, bound in 25 volumes, the New Testament volumes being covered in chamois leather.
Translated by John Horden, CMS, who was consecrated first Bishop of Moosonee in 1872. Although the MS of the whole Bible was completed, only parts were printed as detailed below. The BFBS, on being presented with the MS by Horden before his death in 1893, declined to publish it because only 1000 people spoke the language. Editions were printed as follows:
The Gospels, Moose Fort, Hudsons Bay, printed by Horden himself, 1859. (DM 3121).
Psalms, London: SPCK. (DM 3122).
New Testament, London: BFBS, 1876. (DM 3123).
Proper Lessons from the Old Testament, London: SPCK, 1878. (DM 3124).
