Correspondence (Incoming, 1832-1908), 1832 - 1908
Scope and Contents
Copybooks and registers of letters received. Volumes up to 1856 contain copies of letters that should exist in the main correspondence series (D1). The series E3/1/4 is particularly important in that it preserves the texts of incoming letters (1858-1897) where the originals have not survived. The names of the foreign correspondents are included in the separate indexes BSAX.
