Biographical / Historical
Until the grant of a Royal Charter in 1948, the BFBS was a voluntary Society, responsible ultimately to a general meeting of its members. The Annual General Meeting appointed the Committee and Treasurer, approved the accounts and the annual Report. Special general meetings could be called when necessary, usually to appoint a new Treasurer or to make an alteration to the constitution.
