The picture looks out across the valley, with the Half Dome (8852 feet) at the left of the picture, and snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada in the distance. Lily Langtry’s presence in the photograph would date it to between 1882-3, at which time she went on her tour of America having become a professional actress the year before in 1881.
